My name is Jason Ni. I am attending the Episcopal Academy, Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Environmental science, STEM and economics are my favorites. My favorite sports are playing squash, crew, and football. I play clarinet in the school band and in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. I enjoy writing for my school newspaper E-Scholium. My hobbies are reading, watching my hometown NFL team Eagles' games on TV, listening to music, history, and doodling. I have always been interested in cars, However, recently the field of electric cars has caught my interest.
I am passionate for environmental sustainability. In particular, I am interested in research and investigation on EV transition and how to avert the global warming by speedy EV adoption. I am also interested in finding out broad EV adoption hurdles in technology, policy, supply chain and affordability.
The United Nations established Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. The SDGs include 17 goals and 169 targets that include, inter alia, eradication of poverty and hunger, access to clean air and water, use of sustainable energy, and mitigation of the impacts of climate change. Actions tackling with climate change can cause co-benefits and trade-offs with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) concerned with air pollution, water scarcity, food security, land use, and sustainable energy. Such interactions can be greatly influenced by socioeconomic conditions.
On the surface, sustainability affects the size of one’s house and the style and quantity of clothes one owns. Less obscure things like location and quality of appliances affects people even more than the obvious consequences of lower economic status. For instance, a financially disadvantaged person may have to live closer to a power plant where the industrial waste created affects his/her health. Another example is how someone with more wealth can install solar panels, which is more environmentally friendly than the electricity coming from the local electric grid. As I can see the socioeconomic impact to the environment. I want to answer questions such as how to make buildings more environmentally friendly in an economically efficient way. I want to learn the main causes of environmental decay that originate from buildings and industrialization. I want to provide information related to EV, its implementation to environment, follow the technological development on the battery and charger. My goal is to see those causes eliminated in the most economically efficient way possible. An effective solution to structural pollution would greatly help us keep everyone healthy and mitigate the unfortunate side effects limited by economical capability.
